Good morning John. I saw the comment you posted on the web site and it was timely for me.
Every two weeks I take a body composition of myself with a Tanita product
(Iron Man segmental body comp monitor) and this morning it showed I've
gained nearly three pounds of muscle in the last four weeks. I recognize
that there is variability in the data but there is no doubt in my mind of
the validity of the statement you posted. I've averaged 4 CrossFit
sessions per week in the last several months.
I really see the results.
Police Vs Fire Biggest Winner Competition Update
GREENSBORO, NC -- (3/25/10) – The Greensboro Sportsplex, CrossFit Greensboro, and Triad Complete Nutrition have completed the biggest winner challenge. Here are the results: The Fire Department won but it was a close race.

Police 172.5 pounds 214.22% 70.95% 230.41 pounds
Fire 213.9 pounds 307.44% 96.22% 223.79 pounds
Total 386.4 pounds 521.66% 167.17% 454.20 pounds
These are phenomenal numbers considering there were 10 competitors on the police department and 10 competitors on the fire department.
Together, the police and fire department raised over $10,200 for the various charities in the competition. The individual biggest winner was Jack Steinberg of the police department who lost 45 pounds and his bodyfat went from 29.9% to 17.9% in the 8 weeks.

Just read today's post. I'm not on facebook and didn't know how to login to the crossfit greensboro site so I thought I would just reply to you in email.
As a newbie just finishing his first month at Crossfit Greensboro, I can honestly say that it has been a roller coaster physically, mentally, and emotionally. You set challenges that are tough but achievable and have the right balance of helping and pushing that I need. I could never push or challenge myself as hard as this past month has been without your help.
I do agree that Mastery takes a lifetime, but wherever it is that you are at right now concerning coaching skills is pretty damn good in my book. It has to feel good building an environment where the gym members want to help each other out so much.
Great Job to everyone! You, Bruce, Josh, Robin, Darin, and Matt are great to work with.
One of our crossfitters called me yesterday and shared an awesome story with me. A short time before they joined us there annual physical revealed the they had high blood pressure, high cholesterol and there triglycerides were threw the roof. Over course the dr put them on medicine, well they went back to the dr for blood work and the results were no more medicine, a normal blood pressure, there cholesterol dropped 100 points and there triglycerides came down over 300 points!!! I love those kinds of stories!!!
Hey John and Bruce:
I just wanted to drop you a line to let you in on some great Crossfit news. As you know Spears, Patterson and I have been doing a crossfit WOD everyday during our lunch hour here at the Training Center on N. Church St. For several weeks it was just the three of us. Slowly but surely, we started getting questions about what we were doing. Captain Tuttle joined us about 4 weeks ago and for the past two weeks now we have had 3 -4 personnel from our Fire & Life Safety Division join us for workouts. This past Tuesday and Wednesday we had 4 extra people both days. I am also pleased to tell you that today, Chief Grayson joined us. (Jesse Walker even came back into Greensboro so he could workout with us and help Chief Grayson on his first day) Today’s WOD was Kelly. I just want to thank you two guys for lighting that fire within the three of us so that we might do the same for others here in the fire department. It makes us feel great when people come up to us and ask what we are doing because they see the difference it has made in us and they are seeking the same results. I just wanted to give the credit where it is due; with you two when it started back in February as we began the 8 week challenge. Thank you for your dedication and commitment.

I just went home for my best friend's wedding and everyone was freaking out about how athletic I look. The groomsmen were jokingly calling me Sarah Connor and a one guy in a bar asked me if I was a fitness model. All the women were asking me where I train and what I do. Of course, I was telling everyone about Crossfit and wouldn't be surprised if there's a spike in Crossfit memberships in Indianapolis.
I didn't join Crossfit to make myself pretty, but it doesn't hurt to get so many compliments. :)
